I’ve always wanted to try and make overnight oats, they always seem something hipster and mysterious. Also something I couldn’t be bothered with, and sounded a bit meal preppy and sanctimonious. It turns out, they’re really simple to make, and it’s really just porridge you make ahead of time. Yes, that means you will be a meal prepper if you make them, but it’s an easy prep. You can do it simply with oats and milk, or a dairy free alternative.

Overnight oats have been trending more recently and it’s something that we think is pretty healthy. Some mornings we wake up in a mad rush and have no time to think about what to eat. We might even forget breakfast at times when it is one of the most important meals of the day!
Making porridge oats the night before is exactly what overnight oats are! You prepare your oats as per the instructions below and leave them in the fridge ready for the morning. You then have a delicious porridge breakfast to enjoy when you wake up.

Overnight Oats Ingredients
200 ml regular Milk Or a Milk Alternative such as Vita Coco Milk Alternative (for the dairy free option)
50g Porridge Oats
1/4 tsp Vanilla extract
25g Raspberries Fresh or frozen
1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
I’ve added raspberries, but you can change it up how you like it, with fruit, syrup or chocolate powder. The Coconut milk from Vita Coco has 70% coconut, has added calcium and vitamins, no gluten, dairy or soy. You can make it totally gluten free with gluten free oats if you need a gluten free diet.
How To Make Overnight Oats
So how do you make overnight oats? Here are the easy instructions. Enjoy!
Grab a container, a jar or bowl.
Put the oats and milk or milk alternative together and mix.
Cover and put in the fridge, preferably overnight (hence the name) overnight oats. You can make these in the day but they need to stay in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
In the morning, warm you’re oats if desired and add the raspberries.
Drizzle on some maple syrup for added decadence.
