Easy Peasy Pizza Palmiers Recipe – Using Gifted Wykes Farm Mature Cheddar.
As I watched last weeks Great British Bake Off, I saw the contestants making Palmiers and I thought the process would be complicated. In fact the Palmiers recipe is the easiest thing ever. The hard part is making your own puff pastry. So, I made an executive decision to not make my own.
We’re busy Mamas and none more so than this Mama. So I bought some ready rolled puff pastry from the local store. It’s always handy to have some in the freezer too when you have the space. If you’d like to make your own puff pastry you can find a good recipe from the “An Italian In My Kitchen” website.
What Is A Palmier?
A Palmier or a French Palmier is a simple sweet puff pastry shaped like a butterfly or palm leave. They are simple to make and taste delicious. Savoury Palmiers can be a great buffet treat or snack at a family get together or party celebration.
Making Pizza Palmiers
I wanted to make something that the children would like to eat as a snack or as part of their lunch, so I came up with these Pizza flavoured Palmiers which turned out rather yummy.
These Palmiers tasted just like a margherita pizza, with yummy flaky pastry. They take minutes to prepare and not long to cook so they’re perfect to whip up quickly and feel like the domestic goddess you truly are.
I had a bit of help from my child spreading the cheese (and eating some too). We used Wyke Farm’s extra mature cheddar, but you can use any cheddar or hard cheese.
These are amazingly simple and super tasty, they’re so quick to make and the kids love them!”
